Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites send to the user's device (computer, tablet, smartphone), where they are stored, and then retransmitted to the same websites on subsequent visits. Cookies are used for various purposes, have different characteristics, and can be used both by the website operator and by third parties.

2. Types of Cookies Used

This website uses the following types of cookies: Technical cookies (necessary): Essential for the proper functioning of the website. They include localStorage entries that store language preferences and the choice expressed on the cookie banner. They do not require user consent under art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code. Anonymous traffic statistics (always on, no cookies): The website uses Matomo Analytics self-hosted in Germany (analytics.i3k.dev). Metrics are collected in aggregate and anonymous form with IP anonymisation (last 3 octets zeroed), without setting any cookie and without individual profiling. Under the Italian Data Protection Authority's 10 June 2021 Decision and the EDPB Guidelines, this processing does not require consent. Matomo analytics cookies (optional, explicit opt-in): Only if the user selects "Accept all" or toggles on "Analytics cookies" in the Customize panel, Matomo installs the technical cookies _pk_id and _pk_ses. These cookies allow the same visitor session to be recognised across pages and subsequent visits, providing more accurate returning-visitor statistics. They are first-party cookies (domain analytics.i3k.dev), not shared with any third party. Profiling cookies: This website does NOT use profiling cookies, neither its own nor third-party. No behavioural marketing processing takes place.

3. Complete List of Cookies and Storage

i3k-lang: Stores the user's language preference (Italian/English). Duration: permanent until manual deletion. Type: localStorage. Necessary. i3k-cookie-choice: Records the user's choice on the cookie banner ("all" or "necessary"). Duration: permanent until manual deletion. Type: localStorage. Necessary. _pk_id.2.* (Matomo): Identifies the visitor session. Duration: 13 months. Type: first-party cookie (analytics.i3k.dev). Optional (set only with explicit consent). _pk_ses.2.* (Matomo): Identifies the current browsing session. Duration: 30 minutes. Type: first-party cookie (analytics.i3k.dev). Optional (set only with explicit consent).

4. Analytics Tooling and Third-Party Cookies

Matomo Analytics (self-hosted, i3k infrastructure in Germany): The website uses Matomo Analytics hosted directly on i3k servers in Germany (analytics.i3k.dev), in requireCookieConsent mode: baseline tracking is cookieless and anonymous, first-party analytics cookies (_pk_id, _pk_ses) are set exclusively after the user's explicit consent in the banner. The data controller is I3K Technologies (Securvita S.r.l.) — there is therefore no third-party recipient of the data. IP addresses are anonymised (last 3 octets zeroed) before any processing, raw logs are deleted after 180 days and aggregate reports after 24 months. Browser Do Not Track signal is honoured. No extra-EU data transfers. Typographic fonts: Inter and Montserrat fonts are distributed in self-hosted mode (Fontsource open-source packages) and served directly by the website infrastructure. No CDN third-party loading, no IP transmission to external providers. Vercel: The website is hosted on Vercel (EU-region provider) which uses technical cookies necessary for hosting service operation and server-side performance analytics. For more information: https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

5. How to Manage Cookies

Users can manage their cookie preferences in several ways: Consent banner: On first access to the website, a banner is displayed allowing users to accept or refuse non-essential cookies. Browser settings: Users can set their browser to block or delete cookies. Below are links to guides for the main browsers: • Chrome: chrome://settings/cookies • Firefox: about:preferences#privacy • Safari: Preferences > Privacy • Edge: edge://settings/privacy Disabling technical cookies may impair website functionality.
